Shortlist Announced for Hospitality and Tourism Student of the Year
Marketing Lancashire and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) have today (7 Nov 2024) announced the shortlist for the Hospitality and Tourism Student of the Year award, which is a special category in the annual county-wide Lancashire Tourism Awards.
This year, six students from three of Lancashire’s leading colleges will be judged for the award which recognises individuals currently undertaking a hospitality or tourism related course, who demonstrate exceptional commitment to a career in the industry. The six students shortlisted are all excelling in their studies and placements, and have been nominated by tutors or employers who believe they deserve to be commended for their achievements.
The finalists are: Abbie Schofield a Hospitality Team Member Level 2 student who was nominated by placement business Brickhouse Farm Cottages and Ethan Avis, C&G L3 Diploma in Professional Cookery (Patisserie and Confectionery) student, who are both studying at Blackpool & The Fylde College; James Ashworth and Sophie Wilkinson, two NVQ Level 3 Professional Cookery and Patisserie students from Blackburn College; and Lois Eccles and Lucie Pearson, who are both working towards their NCFE L3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism qualifications at Burnley College.

The six finalists will now be invited to interview with a panel of academics and industry experts as part of the Lancashire Tourism Awards judging Days hosted at Burnley Football Club next week, to determine the ultimate winner of the award. The winner will be announced at the Lancashire Tourism Awards on Tuesday 11 February 2025, before an audience of Lancashire’s leading hospitality, travel and tourism industry colleagues.
